Rental Inspection Program

The Council has recently adopted a Rental Inspection Program that requires landlords to be subject to inspections of the exterior of rental properties. There are fines and penalties for not complying with the Program. We are just now getting the Program information to the landlords and the Program will be in full swing soon. Questions regarding the Program can be referred to Brent Smith at 625-7019, or at ;

As a companion to the Rental Inspection Program, a new Property Maintenance Ordinance has been adopted that requires certain standards of appearance of residential properties. Failure to comply can also result in fines. The City’s Code Enforcement team has been divided up into five quadrants; two quadrants have already been inspected and dozens and dozens of correction notices have been mailed. We are seeing great progress, but it is slow and often tedious to get compliance from some residents.
