The 11 Year Flip

About every eleven years the sun does a 180 degree flip. Over the next few months, the sun’s magnetic field will reverse its polarity. On the sun north will become south and south will become north. This is not a process that happens overnight. The sun’s north pole has already changed sign and it will take a few months for the south pole catch up.

I’m sure that over the next few months there will be some telling us to prepare for the apocalypse however, scientists say that the effects of the flip will be hardly noticeable to humans at all and won’t spark an increase in powerful solar storms or other events that could have a damaging effect on Earth. Electrical fluctuations around the sun will increase in intensity due to the swap and this can create “stormy space weather” around our planet, but, as long as you’re not space walking you should be okay.

Great. As if I didn’t have enough to stress about.
Eleven years… Eleven years… Hmmmm. Seems about right; that’s about how long it took my first wife to flip sides.
