I-680 Express Lanes

The Bay Area Infrastructure Financing Authority (BAIFA) is working closely with Caltrans to convert the existing HOV lanes on I-680 into express lanes from Rudgear Road to Alcosta Blvd. in the southbound direction and from Alcosta Blvd. to Livorna Road in the northbound direction.

Like existing HOV lanes, express lanes are FREE for carpools, vanpools, buses and other eligible vehicles.

Express lanes allow solo drivers to use the lanes for a toll.

Converting the existing HOV lanes into express lanes will involve installing tolling equipment (electronic toll tag readers) and signage as well as enhanced CHP enforcement capabilities. This would result in 23 express lane miles through San Ramon, Danville, Alamo and southern Walnut Creek. No freeway widening would occur as part of this project.

BAIFA invites you to attend an informational meeting to learn more. At the meeting you will be able to review project plans and information, talk with project team members and provide input about the project.
