Laurel Road Widening Project

The construction of the Laurel Road Widening project began on April 14, 2014.

This project will widen and improve the north half of Laurel Road between O’Hara Avenue and Rose Avenue. Water, sewer, storm utility lines will be installed under curb and gutter, sidewalk, landscaping and lighting improvements, as well as the paving and widening of the road. Additionally, the Laurel Ball Fields Park parking lot will also be spruced up. It is anticipated that
the construction of this project will be completed by September 2014.

During the construction of the project all travel ways will remain open on Laurel Road. Oakley City staff has prepared and distributed informational flyers to the area residents and will be available during the construction of this project to answer any questions and accommodate any special needs by residents. In addition to the informational flyers, electronic message signs have been placed in the project vicinity as an added measure to inform the public about this project. Emergency vehicles will at all times have full access and will never be restricted to respond in times of need.

The City and its construction team are taking all appropriate steps to create the least amount of inconvenience to the surrounding areas while performing this important street improvement project without compromising work site safety or quality of work.

At least you are widening this road. Main street is a TOTAL nightmare in the morning since the city decided to narrow it down to one lane in front of City hall and the police station. Thanks for the morning backup going to Vintage Parkway and the school.

What they did to the road is going to cause so many accidents. Not sure what this accomplish. The roadway will flood with the low points with no storm drains. I have requested the original drawings to view. I think whomever did the surveying screwed up. The levels are horrible. West to east is very narrow and you can drove over center since it is evaluated and hit east to west traffic very easy.
