City of Oakley Launches Instagram

The City of Oakley has launched an Instagram account!

Instagram is the newest social media platform the City has taken up to connect with residents, in addition to Facebook, Twitter, and Nextdoor.

Instagram is about capturing and sharing life’s moments through photography. “We look forward to sharing photos that depict the beauty and serenity of the physical space that is Oakley, coupled with the energy of our community,” stated Nancy Marquez‐Suarez, Assistant to the City Manager.

While multiple tools are already in place to communicate important information to residents, uptake of Instagram compliments such efforts. “It’s the other half of the story, which due to staffing limitations, we hope will be driven by our residents,” added Marquez‐Suarez.

Residents are invited to follow “OakleyCa,” and upload their own photos showcasing their own unique take of the City.

We hope that while we tell residents the multiple efforts to improve the quality of life; be it improvements at a park, upcoming recreation opportunities, etc., through Instagram we invite residents to share photographs of the ultimate result. Whether there it be the beauty of a vineyard nextdoor, or your experience at a City sponsored festival.

It is said, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Let us inspire each other to fully explore and experience our City. Depict your favorite aspects of life in Oakley using the #LoveOakley hashtag.

Thanks to the residents who have already shared their images which currently make up the City’s profile.

Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.
