Oakley Union Elementary School District (OUESD) Superintendent Pam Conklin has resigned. The announcement, made after a closed session meeting with the OUESD school board, is effective immediately. Assistant Superintendent Anne Allen will serve as interim superintendent while the board searches for Conklin’s permanent replacement.

Conklin’s resignation comes just one year after becoming the district’s superintendent. She was not available for comment and no other details have been released. Below is the email sent to district staff Friday evening.

Pam Conklin has resigned from her position as Superintendent and we wish her well in her future endeavors. We have decided to appoint Anne Allen as our Interim Superintendent while we begin our search for Pam’s replacement. Please know that the District remains in very capable hands and will continue to operate smoothly. As a Board, we are incredibly grateful to have the support of such a professional staff and acknowledge that you are the reason our students are so successful. We know these qualities will keep our District moving in the right direction. We will keep you posted on the process for replacing Pam.

Following a series of all-day candidate interviews on Thursday, May 7th, the Oakley Union Elementary School District Board of Trustees has selected Pamela Conklin as the finalist to replace retiring Superintendent Dr. Rick Rogers. Mrs. Conklin is currently Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources in Novato Unified School District where she has had a distinguished 20-year career as an elementary and middle school teacher, Dean of Students, and Principal at both the elementary and middle school level (while also overseeing a number of alternative education programs in the district). Pam has taught kindergarten, third, sixth, seventh and eighth grades in the Novato Unified School District.

Pam Conklin was selected as the finalist from an outstanding field of candidates. A subcommittee of the Board will conduct a site validation visit to Novato Unified School District. Following a positive site visitation and successful contract negotiations, the Board expects to take action to confirm an offer of employment to Pam at its May 20, 2015, regularly scheduled Board meeting.

“Pam was selected as our finalist from an outstanding field of candidates. Her experience and credentials are exactly what we need in the Oakley Union Elementary School District. She has developed strong parent and community partnerships to engender trust, foster cooperation and engage the community to sustain an effective and positive learning environment. She is an integral part of the district’s effort to continue to enhance its caring, student-centered culture to support high academic achievement,” said Mark Jordan Board President.

Pam Conklin’s work has focused on developing and implementing programs with continual focus on improving student achievement, building strong positive employee relationships, team building with all staff and implementation of technology in support of 21st century learners. She has extensive work with facilities projects.

Pam has served as a teacher, mentor teacher, Dean of Students, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources during her tenure with Novato Unified School District.

She is known to be a student-centered leader who is highly visible, approachable and accessible.
