A few weekends ago, two neighborhoods consisting of 350 households participated in a new pilot program being led by the Code Enforcement Division. The program will select a specific neighborhood and specific day on which dumpsters will be made available so that folks who pre-registered and live within the neighborhood can dispose of up to 2 cubic yards (about one (1) pickup truck load or a small utility trailer load) of your unwanted household items for FREE.
Items that can be disposed of include cardboard, furniture, tires, mattresses, general waste, metal, wood and yard waste, and small appliances. Check out photos of those who participated this weekend.
The program was well received. “This is a program we were testing. We learned a few minor adjustments that can be made for a better experience on our residents’ end. Now having one under our belt, we intend to hold an event on a quarterly basis,” stated Code Enforcement Manager Troy Edgell.
When we come to your neighborhood, you will be notified via door hangers in advance of the opportunity. In the meantime, Oakley Disposal Service offers two on call free pick up days per year. For more information please click here.
