We owe a big debt of gratitude to our dedicated grocery workers who are working extra hours, away from their families to ensure our grocery stores are stocked and we have what we need. Please, next time you shop take a moment to say “thank you” to them. I know they will appreciate it.
Widespread concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus have disrupted consumers’ shopping patterns and resulted in many purchasing more than they actually need.
The California Grocers Association (CGA) is actively taking steps to reassure consumers that grocery stores will remain open and that food and essential supplies remain plentiful. Their goal is to encourage responsible shopping.
The bare shelves people may be experiencing do NOT indicate lack of supply. It is a temporary result of people overbuying given the understandable worry right now.
Next time you go shopping please buy only what you need for a week. There is no need to over buy. This will help stores catch up with the increased demand.
Think of it this way: Buy Smart. Don’t Overfill Your Cart. There is enough for all.
We are all looking for some normalcy in our lives and going back to our typical shopping patterns is an important part of that.
- And if anyone is looking for a job, please look into opportunities at your local grocery store or distribution center, they have thousands of open positions.
- Hiring is increasing for both stores and distribution centers to ensure product moves as quickly as possible to store shelves.
