“Your Delta, Your Voice” Community Survey Launched Take the Survey Today!

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) today launched an environmental justice community survey to gather input to inform Delta Conveyance Project planning.

The survey, entitled, “Your Delta, Your Voice”, seeks direct input from communities that may be disproportionately affected by the proposed project. Specifically, DWR is seeking direct feedback from the people who live, work, recreate, raise families, run businesses, grow crops, worship, or advocate for equity in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (Delta).

“Your Delta, Your Voice” has two primary goals. One is to accurately reflect how the members of a variety of Delta communities value the region’s cultural, recreational and natural resources, through a series of questions and a map that allows people to identify places that are special to them. The other is to seek input about ways the project may cause impacts to these resources or potentially bring benefits to Delta communities.

The survey should take under 10 minutes to complete and can be accessed by smart phone, tablet or computer in English, Spanish and Chinese.

We are reaching out through a variety of channels to encourage all communities of interest, including Tribal members, to have their voices heard. In addition to the link above, the survey can be accessed through social media, a QR code on flyers and postcards in the community or by going to YourDeltaYourVoice.org. The survey will be available for a minimum of 8 weeks.

The proposed Delta Conveyance Project would upgrade State Water Project infrastructure in the Delta by building new water diversion points in the north Delta and a tunnel to move the water to existing facilities in the south Delta. It would be a major construction project. The project is focused on securing the state’s water supply for 27 million people–including 6 million in disadvantaged communities—against earthquakes, sea level rise and climate change.
